Pumpkin Tree Bunches

Pumpkin Tree BunchesOctober 9, 2012 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Tree Bunches are not your garden-variety pumpkins.  Sure, they're grown in gardens (after being transplanted from their greenhouse beginnings), and we have nothing but love for traditional pumpkins, but that's where their similarities with pumpkins of the jack o'lantern variety pretty much cease.

These bunches are the branches of pumpkin trees, plants that originated in Africa. They grow 3-5 feet tall and produce prodigious numbers of decorative fruit. Each of our bunches has between 25 and 30 mini pumpkins, enough to make an impression in one big vase or several smaller ones.  Nothing says "autumn," "fall" or "adorable" like mini pumpkins on a stick. And you can have them in hearty bunches for $6.99* a bunch, for as long as the season lasts. You could try to take a bunch of traditional-sized pumpkins and attach them to a stick – we think you'll find that ours are not only cuter, they're quite a bit easier to carry around, and they're much easier to fit in a vase.

*Ounces, price and recipes may vary by region: a Pumpkin Tree Bunch is $7.99 in our East Coast, Midwest and Southeast stores.
