Grains of Wisdom
Breakfast cereals were introduced in the late 19th century to promote healthful living. A fact one might find ironic while perusing the cereal aisle in some stores. The prices alone can send you into shock. And the nutrition panels can cause palpitations: artificial colors, artificial flavors, processed flours… Not to mention the clash of cartoon frames that jump out to capture your attention… Yikes! NOT at Trader Joe’s. We still subscribe to the origins of this breakfast food.
All of Trader Joe’s Cereals are made with natural ingredients, without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. They’re high-quality, great-tasting and terrific bargains, across the board. Trader Joe’s Crisp Rice Cereal is made from lightly toasted milled rice that’s sweetened with naturally milled cane sugar. It’s fat free and fortified with 11 vitamins and minerals – six B vitamins, vitamins A, D and C, plus iron and zinc. Bringing that much more bliss to the bowl, our naturally fat free Organic Corn Flakes Cereal is only $2.49 for each 12 ounce box.
Culinary Curiosity: Apollo 11 astronauts enjoyed a fortifying breakfast of cereal while in space. Of course, it was dry.
