Because You Asked
A couple of years back, we started receiving requests from a handful of customers for Portuguese Duoro [DOH-roo]. Once stigmatized as bitter, the region's table wine has quietly been growing in acclaim. New winemaking techniques have brought about a smoother, more approachable red blend, that maintains traits of its prized progeny-Port.
Always on the quest to satisfy our Customers' wishes, and round out our international offering of wines, we turned to one of our most trusted Port producers, the Symington Family (they craft Quarles Harris, Graham's, and Dow's, to name a few). Duoro? Century-old curators of quality, they delivered: Tuella Douro DOC. A riveting blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cao from Douro vinhateiros, it promises plummy fruit and spices. In the mouth, it is smooth and zesty, delivering good acidity and medium tannins. A redoubtable red table wine, Tuella Douro is undoubtedly a great value at $6.99* for each 750 ml bottle, every day, at Trader Joe's.
