Have you ever wondered why there's so much salt in tomato juice? We certainly have. That's one of the reasons the one and only tomato juice you'll find at Trader Joe's is Trader Joe's Organic Low Sodium Tomato Juice. We didn't set out to develop a "low sodium" juice; we simply realized tomato juice was something that was missing from our shelves, and our tasting panel did the rest.
We tasted lots of different versions of tomato juice. Some made with conventionally-grown tomatoes, others, like this one, made with organically grown tomatoes. We tasted tomato juice with significantly higher levels of sodium and we tasted some with no sodium at all. This one just tasted better than the rest – the low sodium level is just a happy coincidence.
So just how low is the sodium? Low. As a point of reference, regular tomato juice generally has about 650mg of sodium per serving. That's a whole lot of sodium. Trader Joe's Organic Low Sodium Tomato Juice has only 140mg of sodium per serving. That's not very much sodium at all. Consequently, our juice tastes like ripe tomatoes, with a shake or two of salt and a hint of lemon. Call us kooky, but we think this is what tomato juice should taste like. We also think our price of $1.99 for a 32 ounce bottle is what Organic Low Sodium Tomato Juice should be priced like. So at Trader Joe's, that's what it costs. Every day.
