Pumpkins

It's The Great Pumpkin, Trader Joe!

Hooray!  It's pumpkin season again.  You did know this gourd-ish squash has its own season, right?  Winter, Spring, Summer, Pumpkin.  It's on the calendar.  And we anxiously anticipate it every year.  We just love pumpkins. Love carving them into all manner of jack-o-lanterns, love roasting the treasures that lie within – some call them seeds; we call them treasures – love baking them and using their delightful "meat" for pies, breads and puddings, love simply staring at their awesome orangeness.  Love.

Because we love pumpkins as much as we do, you'll find a great number of pumpkins in our stores, in shapes, sizes and even colors that may surprise you, and prices that will definitely increase your enjoyment of pumpkin season.  First and foremost, we have big, traditional orange pumpkins, ready for Halloween carving (among other things).  Pumpkins range in size from about a pound to more than 1,000 pounds – Trader Joe's Pumpkins vary in exact weight – we guarantee, though, that they're always bigger than one pound and smaller than 1,000 pounds!

How to pick a perfect pumpkin?  It should feel firm and heavy for its size, should be free of soft spots, and its color should be pretty uniform – whether you're buying an orange pumpkin or one of another color.  If you're planning to carve, make sure it sits flat before you start – unless you want a lopsided jack-o-lantern.  We guarantee an excellent selection, and we guarantee a phenomenal price.  We're selling orange Pumpkins for $2.99* each, every day – until pumpkin season is over, that is.

* Trader Joe's Pumpkins are $3.49 in our Midwest & Southeast stores; $3.99 in our East Coast stores.
