Presswork Barossa Valley Shiraz

February 3rd—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

The Barossa Valley is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious growing regions, located just northeast of the South Australian city of Adelaide.  It's home to many of Australia's most renowned wineries, and also home to a distinctive style of Shiraz crafted from old vine grapes.  Presswork Shiraz, crafted with grapes from vines ranging from 20-60 years old, is an excellent example of Barossa Valley Shiraz.  Originally destined for a well-known label, the winemakers found themselves with far more "juice" than they could realistically manage, which left the door open for Trader Joe's to negotiate a phenomenal deal that resulted in Presswork Shiraz.

Presswork is a dark purple hued, bold and full-bodied Shiraz, with dark red cherry and currant notes, hints of spice, plenty of vanilla & oak (the wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels), and a long, rich finish.  Try it with big, bold dishes like our Braised Beef Roast with Demi Glace.  We're selling each 750ml bottle for $9.99*.  In the original label, this wine would have been at least twice as much - and it's good enough that it would have been worth that higher price.  We have limited quantities, though, and when it's gone, it's gone.

* Presswork Shiraz Barossa Valley AU is currently available in Trader Joe's stores where wine is sold. It is $9.99 (plus tax). Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff. (If we could, we would.)
