Trader Joe's Turkish Apricots are grown in Turkey's southeastern region, at the headwaters of the Tigris & Euphrates Rivers. Fresh Malatya apricots (binomial name, Prunus armeniaca) are harvested at the peak of ripeness, sunshine dried for about six days until they reach the ideal balance of moist & dry, then packed just for us. Turkish Apricots are handy snacks right out of the bag. They also add bright flavor and chewy texture to your holiday baked goods -- just give them a rough chop and mix 'em in. We also like them chopped and sprinkled on hot or cold cereal for breakfast. They'll really shine on a cheese platter. Their natural sweetness is a great match for a range of cheeses, from traditional English Blue Stilton to Unexpected Cheddar.
We sell well over a million pounds of Turkish Apricots every year (yes, you read that correctly), so we have a bit of buying power in the Turkish Apricot marketplace.
