Virgil's Dr. Better

August 21, 2014 in What's New

After failed attempts at turning up the original “Dr. Type” drinks from the early 1900s, the soda savants at Virgil’s set out to reverse engineer the recipe using their finely-honed taste buds. Leveraging their knowledge of roots, spices and fruits, they deftly discerned the key ingredients. They are not mere mimickers, however. They are libation artists. Doctoring up their findings, they created a uniquely better beverage, one they felt could rival their inimitable, micro-brewed Root Beer: Virgil’s Dr. Better.

Huge fans of their root beer, we were thirsting to give Dr. Better a go. When we took our first sips, we understood the name. Dr. Better is balanced, refreshing and vibrant. The taste is dynamic and creamy, with notes of vanilla, nutmeg, cherry, and of course, prune juice. It’s not too sweet, not too heavy. It’s really just... better.

Pour it into a tall, chilled glass, and add a scoop or two of our Speculoos Cookie Butter Ice Cream for a better float. Concoct a better brisket marinade or ham glaze. Offer this as a better non-alcoholic beverage alternative at your next party.

But, it gets even better...

Because of our great relationship with the producers of this premium, caffeine-free soda—micro-brewed in Los Angeles, CA, from ingredients carefully sourced throughout the world—we are able to sell each 4-pack of 12-ounce Dr. Better bottles for $4.49 (West Coast, Southwest & Pacific Northwest), and $3.99 (East Coast, Midwest & Southeast).
