While Americans didn’t invent pie (ancient Egyptians get those baking credits), we’ve embraced it so fully into our food heritage, that it is considered “the most traditional American dessert.” The ultimate sweet treat, homemade pies did fall out of fashion at one time, as convenience became coveted and appetites more reserved. In our Mini Pie Medley, we restore the glory of this culinary classic, cutting a new mold that fits better into a more modern view of time and treats. The pies thaw or heat swiftly, and while each is, indeed, a remarkable treat—at just 6-7 grams of fat and 160 calories—enjoying a pie is hardly an extravagance.
These were crafted for us by a famed, family-owned Chicago bakery committed to slow-baking in small batches and using only the finest ingredients. Our seasonal Mini Pie Medley features six, individually-sized (1.5 ounce) fruit pies with, quite possibly, the most mouth watering, flaky, all-butter crusts on the planet. There are three fillings: Strawberry, made from small, intensely sweet berries grown in Mexico; Blueberry, made from small, bright berries grown in the Southwest Michigan; and Peach, made from sweet, fragrant freestone peaches grown in California’s San Joaquin Valley. The top of each perfectly petite personally proportioned pie is sprinkled with a touch of granulated sugar crystals for a delicate, sweet crunch. They’re delicious. Really something else.
