For many years, peanut butter reigned supreme. After a massive drought destroyed almost half of the U.S. peanut crop in the early 1980s, we went to market with our first alternative nut butter made from cottonseed kernels. And that’s when our nut butter business went, well, nutty. From almonds and sunflower seeds to macadamia and cashews, we started grinding ‘em out, giving our customers new options and experiences.
Over the years, the popularity of different nuts has waxed and waned, along with them their butters. And that brings us to the nut of the matter: Cashews. They are back in the game! The second most popular nut, next to almonds, we felt strongly that Cashew Butter would be an au courant crowd pleaser. Starting with the most popular profile across all nut butters—creamy and salted—we are contented to reintroduce Trader Joe’s Creamy, Salted Cashew Butter!
Premium cashews are collected from around the world—Africa, Brazil & Thailand—and then expertly dry roasted by nut-butter masters (they’ve been in the business for more than 30 years) in Washington. Finely ground and mixed with sunflower oil to achieve smooth, creamy texture, the Cashew Butter is finished with just a hint of sea salt and the tiniest bit of dry roasted almonds to round out the rich, sweet nuttiness.
Trader Joe’s Creamy, Salted Cashew Butter is a sigh-worthy spread for toast or bagels, and a beautiful base for sauces, dressings and dips. We also like it in smoothies or eaten straight from the spoon.
You know what else is nuts about our Creamy Salted Cashew Butter? The value! We’re selling each 16-ounce jar (BPA-free) for $6.99—about $3 less than comparable products!
