Black Forest Cupcake Flavored Black Tea

March 07, 2017 in Category: What's New

The Black Forest—Schwarzwald in German—is a large forested mountain range in southwestern Germany known for its ham, cuckoo clocks, and cake. Though black forest cake does have the same name as this region, the dessert’s namesake is actually a German brandy—Schwarzwälder Kirschwasser—that is often included in the cake.

Trader Joe’s Black Forest Cupcake Tea does not have brandy in it, but it’s still worthy of its Black Forest name.

A traditional Black Forest cake is made with chocolate sponge cake, whipped cream, and cherries, and has its own (long) German name to go with it: Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Our Cupcake Tea takes its inspiration from this cake. Premium black tea leaves provide the base; real cocoa shell, natural cherry flavor and natural marshmallow flavor work together to create the “black forest” effect of the tea. Chocolaty, tart, and sweet—everything you’d hope for from a Cupcake Tea.

You might get all the black forest flavors in a single brewed cup of Tea, but that doesn’t mean you can’t complement them with a few other treats. Try it with Chocolate Lava Cake and a handful of sour Morello Cherries for a sweet experience.

Pick up a 1.4-ounce tin (20 tea bags) of Trader Joe’s Black Forest Cupcake Tea for $3.99. It’s a delightfully sweet Black Forest treat—at a value to match.
