2. What is the Trader Joe's App?

The Trader Joe's App provides users with exclusive information about selected "Featured Products." Each product article includes an in-depth product story, interesting tasting notes, creative serving ideas, detailed nutritional information, and retail price. Users can interact with products by "yum-ing" them (our version of LIKE), sharing them (through Facebook, Twitter, and email), and commenting on them. The App also provides convenient store information through the "Store Locator" function.

3. Does it cost anything to use the Trader Joe's App?

No. It is free to download and free to operate.

4. How do I get the Trader Joe's App?

You can download the App at the iTunes App Store. To locate it quickly, type "Trader Joe's" into the iTunes App Store search field. Look for the red Trader Joe's logo. Follow the prompts to download the App to your device.

5. On which devices will the Trader Joe's App work?

The Trader Joe's App is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS6 and above. The Trader Joe's App is optimized for iPhone 5.

8. Do I need an account to use the Trader Joe's App?

You do not need an account to simply view Featured Products or for basic use of the Store Locator. However, for most other functions, you must be signed in with either your existing Facebook account, or your Trader Joe's App account—which can be created within the App. To create your own Trader Joe's App account, follow the steps outlined in #9, below.

9. How do I sign in with my Facebook account?

To sign in using your Facebook account, tap the navigation icon at the bottom-right of any screen (it looks like three lines stacked vertically) to reveal the navigation menu. Choose "Settings." Then, select "Sign In." Tap the blue button and follow the prompts to sign in with your Facebook log-in information. Once you agree with Trader Joe's "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy," you will be automatically logged in to the App.

10. How do I create a Trader Joe's App account?

To "Sign in with TJ's," you must first create an account. Tap the navigation icon at the bottom-right of any screen (it looks like three lines stacked vertically) to reveal the navigation menu. Choose "Settings." Then, select "Sign In." Tap the words "Come Aboard!" located just beneath the red "Sign In with TJ's" button. Next, fill out the form, including your name and email. Choose a password. Finally, select "Sign Up." Once you agree with Trader Joe's "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy," you will automatically be logged in to the App. You will then receive an email confirming your new TJ's App account.

11. I'm uncomfortable giving my full name when creating an account. Is there another option?

You are welcome to use only your first name with your last initial. Otherwise, feel free to invent a username. For community guidelines, please consult our Terms of Use.

12. How do I "yum" a Featured Product?

You must be signed in to "yum" a product (see #8 and #9 above). While viewing a Featured Product, tap the red, heart icon at the top of your screen to "yum" that product.

13. How do I share a Featured Product ?

You must be signed in to share a product (see #8 and #9 above). To share, you may either choose the Apple Share icon at the top of your screen (it looks like a box with an arrow jumping out to the right), or scroll down to the very bottom of the product article and choose the "Share" button. Either one of these choices will reveal the Share menu at the bottom of the screen. Select your preferred sharing method (Facebook, Twitter, or Email). Complete the form and tap "Post" (in the case of Facebook and Twitter) or "Send" (in the case of email).

14. How do I comment on a Featured Product?

You must be signed in to comment on a product (see #8 and #9 above). While viewing any product, tap the red, speech bubble icon at the top-right of the screen. Type your comment in the dialogue box that appears. Then, select "Send."

15. I asked a question in the comment section of a Featured Product, but received no response. Is there a better place to make inquiries?

16. How do I flag an inappropriate comment?

If you notice an inappropriate comment, you can notify our moderators by tapping the flag icon to the right of comment in question. Once selected, the flag will appear darker to indicate that you have flagged that comment. TJ's moderators will review flagged comments and remove content that violates our "Terms of Use" policy.

18. How do I locate a Trader Joe's store?

To locate a Trader Joe’s store, first access the navigation menu by choosing the navigation menu icon (it looks like three lines stacked vertically) in the bottom-right of any screen. Select “Store Locator” from the menu. If you have given the TJ’s app permission to use your current location, then your geographical location will automatically be detected, and a map will open with a blue dot indicating your current location. Tap any visible store icon (circular, red TJ’s logo) to access that particular store’s information, including: Trading Hours, address, and distance from you. If you don’t immediately see a store icon, pinch and swipe the map until a store icon appears.

19. I didn’t allow the TJ’s app to use my current location at first, but now I’ve changed my mind. How do I allow it to use my current location retrospectively?

There are two ways that you can allow the TJ’s app to use your current location…

On your device: Access your device settings from your home screen. Scroll down and select "Privacy" from the device Settings menu, then select, "Location Services." Scroll down to find Trader Joe's App among your other apps. Toggle the switch next to the Trader Joe's app so that the green is highlighted. Now the Trader Joe's App has permission to use your current location.

Through the TJ's App: Reinstall the app and when given the prompt for permission to use your location, select "OK"

20. How do I make a Trader Joe's store my "favorite"?

After you’ve located the Trader Joe’s store nearest you (see #17 above), tap that store icon on the map to reveal a pop-up, information window. Tap the red star in the top-left corner of that window to make this your “favorite” store. Now, whenever you navigate to the Store Locations, regardless of your location, it will take you to your favorite store. In addition, now whenever you select “Call Now” at the bottom of any Featured Product page, you will automatically be connected to a TJ’s Crew member at your favorite store location.

21. How will I know if a Featured Product is available at a Trader Joe's store location?

All Featured Products should be available at your local store, however… things can happen! To confirm that the product you're viewing is on the shelf at your favorite Trader Joe's store, scroll to the bottom of any product screen. Locate and select the red button labeled, "Call Now." You will be given the option to immediately contact your "favorite" store by phone. (See #19 above for how to set your "favorite" store.)

22. How do I reset my password?

To reset your password, choose "Settings" from the Trader Joe's App navigation menu. This menu is located at the bottom-right of any screen (looks like three lines stacked vertically). First, sign out (if you are currently signed in). Next, select the red "Sign In" button. Tap the question mark ("?") in the "Password" field. Finally, type your email address in the "Email" field and tap the red "Send" button. Soon after this, you will receive an email, which includes details for resetting your password.

23. Is my password secure in the TJ's App?

Absolutely. We have taken extra security precautions to ensure that your password is encrypted. Even if someone gets access to your device, they will not be able to obtain your password.

24. How do I turn on/off push notifications?

When you open the Trader Joe's App for the first time, you will be asked if you want to receive "push notifications." Your initial response will be stored in your device settings. If at any time you wish to change your preference regarding push notifications, use the following steps:

First, access your device settings from your home screen. Select "Notification Center" from the settings menu. Scroll down to find Trader Joe's App among your other apps. Select it to access notification settings. Turn OFF "Show in Notification Center" to discontinue push notifications for this App. Turn ON "Show in Notification Center" to start receiving push notifications.

25. How do I control whether or not the Trader Joe's App posts to my Facebook timeline?

You can choose whether or not your "yums" and comments automatically post to your Facebook timeline. This feature must be enabled/disabled in TWO different places.

On your device: Access your settings from your home screen. Scroll down to select "Facebook." Scroll down again to find the Trader Joe's App icon. Make sure that the switch is turned on. This will allow Facebook to access your Trader Joe's App.

In the TJ's App: Tap the navigation menu icon at the bottom of any screen (it looks like three lines stacked vertically). Next, select "Settings." Under the red "Sign In" button, you will see a box containing a switch with the Facebook logo. Tap (don't slide) the Facebook logo to toggle between "YES" (automatic posting) and "NO" (no automatic posting).

26. Why did a dialog box randomly pop up asking me if I love the Trader Joe's App?

27. Can I use the App if I'm not connected to a Wi-Fi network and I don't have cellular coverage?

Yes. Without an Internet connection, you can still browse Featured Products. However, you will need a Wi-Fi connection or cellular coverage to be able to comment on, share, or "yum" products. Wi-Fi/cellular is also required for operating the Store Locator.

28. How do I remove the Trader Joe's App from my device?

To remove the App from your device, tap and hold the App icon on your home screen. When the icon begins to "wiggle," release your finger and tap the "x" that has appeared in the top-left corner. This action will completely delete the app from your device.

29. My Trader Joe's App won't load when I try to upgrade to a new version. What should I do?

Completely remove the Trader Joe's App from your device (see #27 above). To restore the latest version of the App to your device, download it from the iTunes App Store. (See #3 above.)
